Nuclear power plants

Connecticut Yankee (CY) - The Connecticut Yankee nuclear power plant, located in Haddam Neck, Connecticut, USA, began commercial operation in 1968 and produced more than 110 billion kWh of electricity during its 28-year operating history. In 1996, the CY Board of Directors voted to permanently close and decommission the power plant. After two years of planning and preparation, actual decommissioning began. Decommissioning is projected to be completed by the year 2006.

Forsmark - Forsmark accounts for roughly one- sixth of Sweden's electricity production. The plant's three reactors have a combined output of nearly 3090 MWe.

Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station (GNPS) - Daya Bay is the first and by far the largest commercial nuclear installation in mainland China. It has an installed capacity of 1968 MWe and began commercial operation in 1994.

Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP) - The site includes details about the Ignalina NPP in Lithuanian, including photo and video galleries.

Indian Point Energy Center - Entergy Nuclear Northeast has prepared this website to serve as a reliable source of information regarding its Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan, N.Y., USA.

International Nuclear Safety Centre (INSC) - Includes a database of safety related information including: power and research reactors worldwide; nuclear materials and their properties; forthcoming events; maps; weekly reports from the Centre and much other information. Good information, excellently presented!

Kernkraftwerk Gosgen-Daniken AG (KKG) - Owner and operator of the Gosgen PWR reactor in Switzerland. *In GERMAN and FRENCH only*

Kernkraftwerk Leibstadt AG (KKL) - Owner and operator of the Leibstadt BWR reactor in Switzerland. *In GERMAN and FRENCH only*

Kernkraftwerke Gundremmingen Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (KGB) - Gives details of the Gundremmingen power plant in Germany. *In GERMAN only*

Kola Nuclear Power Plant - Lots of information about this Russian nuclear power plant, including press releases.

Kozloduy NPP - Lots of information about the Kozloduy nuclear power plant in Bulgaria, as well as a photo gallery of the plant.

Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant (LNPP) - This site includes details and a photo gallery of the Leningrad NPP, near St Petersburg, Russia.

Maine Yankee - This US plant, Maine's only nuclear power plant, was officially closed in August 1997. On 3 October 2005, Maine Yankee was notified by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission that its former plant site has been successfully decommissioned in accordance with NRC procedures.

Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant - The commissioning of unit 1 on 30 September, 1964 started the history of operation and development of the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant, one of the earliest nuclear power plants in Russia. Over a period of more than 40 years, a total of five nuclear power units were built at the Novovoronezh plant site with pressurized water reactors (VVERs).

Nuclear Power Plants Worldwide - This database, created by the Nuclear Training Centre, Ljubljana, Slovenia, shows all operating and shutdown nuclear power reactors worldwide. In addition to general data about each reactor, there are also pictures of most of the sites.

Nuklearna Elektrarna Krsko (NEK) - Lots of information here about the Krsko nuclear power plant in Slovenia.

Paks Nuclear Power Plant - The company was founded in 1976 and has been operating as a share company since 1992. Its site, where four VVER- 440/213 type units are operating with a total nominal power of 1860 MWe, is located in the middle of Hungary. More than 40% of the electrical energy generated in Hungary is produced here. The website includes lots of information about the plant and nuclear power in general, including a step-by-step illustration of how a reactor is constructed.

Rostov Nuclear Power Plant - The website of Russia's Rostov Nuclear Power Plant, which started operation in early 2001. *In RUSSIAN only*

South Texas Project Electric Generating Station (STPEGS) - The project is one of the newest and largest nuclear power plants in the US. STP's two reactors went online in August 1988 and June 1989, and together produce 2500 MWe.

Stichting Borssele-2004+ - This organisation is a Foundation, a legal entity created by the employees of the Borssele Nuclear Power Plant to lobby and to take legal actions in order to prevent a politically motivated shutdown of the plant.

Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corp - The Wolf Creek nuclear power plant, near Burlington, Kansas, USA, is a Westinghouse four-loop pressurized water reactor (PWR) producing more than 1,200,000 kW of electricity.

Yankee Nuclear Power Plant - The Yankee Nuclear Power Station - also known as 'Yankee Rowe' - was the third nuclear power plant built in the US and the first built in New England. The Yankee Rowe plant, located in western Massachusetts, permanently shut down on 26 February, 1992 after more than 31 years of operation. Decommissioning began in 1993 and is nearing completion.
